What's in your fridge? The powerful story of Maddi's Fridge ❤️

Dive into a story of friendship, honesty, and empathy with Maddi's Fridge, the moving book by Lois Brandt and a beautiful stage play adaptation!

The story follows best friends Sofia and Maddi. They live nearby, go to the same school, and play in the same park. But when Sofia visits Maddi's house, she discovers a heartbreaking secret: Maddi's family doesn't have enough money, and their fridge is almost empty.

Maddi asks Sofia to promise to keep it a secret. Now, Sofia is faced with a tough choice: keep her promise or tell a trusted adult so she can help her friend.

This heartwarming story is an essential read/watch for all ages, tackling the important topic of childhood hunger with sensitivity and humor. It's a fantastic way to open a conversation about what it means to be a truly supportive friend and how we can all work together to help fight food insecurity in our communities.

🎭 The 2nd grade class saw the story come to life!

The adapted play is a moving theatrical experience that brings the characters' difficult decisions and attempts to help to the stage. It’s a wonderful opportunity for young audiences to witness the power of compassion in action.

What choice would you make?

Welcome to our school!

The public school system has been an important part of the Lake Mills, Scarville, and Joice communities from their beginnings. The Lake Mills Community School is one campus that houses the elementary, middle, and high school. The district prides itself in providing students with exciting learning opportunities that expand their connection to others locally and across the nation. Students at Lake Mills Community School benefit from small class sizes, one-to-one access to technology, and faculty who are focused on growth. We are so excited to offer our communities a school where our collective effort focuses on teaching and learning for all.
