8th Grade Civics is a year-long course. This class is integrated with the 8th Grade Communications class.

The first three quarters we will be working on answering the following questions:
- What are civics, politics and government?
- What are the foundations of the American political system?
- How does the government established by the Constitution embody the purpose, values and principles of American democracy?
- What are the roles of the citizens in America?

During this time we will be also studying about Washington, D.C. to help us focus on our trip in April.

During the fourth quarter we will take our Washington, D.C. trip. Upon our return, we will be processing the trip and integrating what we learned from the first part of the year into several projects.
