Health and Physical Education

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Recognize human growth and development as a natural and healthy life process.
  2. Make knowledgeable decisions for healthy living.
  3. Demonstrate skills of positive interpersonal relationships.
  4. Function effectively in various life roles.
  5. Recognize that all people have dignity and worth.
  6. Express connections of physical fitness and mental health to lifelong goals.

 

Social Studies (Integrated)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Demonstrate civic responsibility and active participation in a democratic society.
  2. Demonstrate the connection of self to the local community and the world around us.
  3. Relate the social sciences to the traditions and values of the United States as expressed in its unity and diversity.
  4. Recognize the interrelatedness of cultures and events past and present.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the social sciences as they relate to world cultures.
  6. Recognize and respect own beliefs and values as well as those of others when forming opinions, interpretations, and evaluations.
  7. Understand how people organize for the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.

 

Science (Integrated)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Communicate an understanding of science skills and processes.
  2. Demonstrate skills and applications of knowledge related to science concepts.
  3. Investigate and experiment.
  4. Verify knowledge by solving problems.
  5. Apply science content and processes to personal, social and political decision-making.
  6. Demonstrate use of appropriate technologies related to science.
  7. Use scientific methods and experiences to explain observations and solve problems.
  8. Recognize local and global scientific and technological concerns and generate possible solutions.
  9. Recognize the interrelatedness of physical, Earth, and life sciences.

 

Mathematics (Integrated)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Communicate an understanding of math concepts through multiple methods.
  2. Express concepts through forming and solving mathematical statements, evaluating mathematical models, and justifying mathematical outcomes.
  3. Recognize and analyze patterns and relationships of numbers, objects and shapes in order to gain additional information, make predictions, and solve problems.
  4. Select appropriate computational methods and form conclusions.
  5. Connect math concepts to real-world applications.
  6. Demonstrate appropriate application of technological tools to communicate, make decisions, and solve problems.

 

Vocational Program (Integrated)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Demonstrate a broad, basic understanding of the principles underlying one's program of study.
  2. Summarize the characteristics of the world of work that determines one's life career decisions.
  3. Relate the economic process to one's life career decisions.
  4. Use technical and social communication skills in the performance of tasks related to one's career and career placement.
  5. Demonstrate the use of appropriate technologies which enable success for one's career.
  6. Demonstrate awareness and purpose of occupational safety.
  7. Demonstrate skills and abilities which will enable one to be a productive citizen.
  8. Demonstrate traits of self-discipline, pride in work, goal setting, and planning.
  9. Develop one's skills in a specialty area based on current career decisions.

 

Language Arts (Integrated)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Recognize and apply communication skills for lifelong learning.
  2. Access and use various sources of information to formulate ideas.
  3. Recognize diversity in the world through classic and contemporary literature.
  4. Read, write, speak, listen, and view with understanding.
  5. Formulate, present, and defend personal viewpoints.
  6. Recognize natural connections of communication skills to all disciplines.

 

Reading (Integrated)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Decode conventions.
  2. Establish comprehension.
  3. Realize context.
  4. Develop interpretations.
  5. Integrate for synthesis.
  6. Critique for evaluation.

 

Fine Arts (Integrated Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts)

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Recognize the role of fine arts as an integral part of a healthy society.
  2. Recognize the power of individual expression and communication in the fine arts.
  3. Recognize all people as consumers of the fine arts.
  4. Recognize the historical and cultural components of the fine arts.
  5. Value quality as an essential component of the fine arts.
  6. Analyze and make informed aesthetic judgments of personal works and the works of others.
  7. Demonstrate skills, knowledge, and confidence in self-expression.
  8. Utilize appropriate technologies as a method of expressing the fine arts.

 

Guidance

Lake Mills Community Schools will provide the opportunities for learners to:

  1. Demonstrate awareness of the uniqueness of self.
  2. Model an appreciation for others that will enrich interpersonal relationships.
  3. Utilize knowledge and skills for developing and maintaining emotional, physical, and mental health as a part of responsible citizenship.
  4. Demonstrate educational competencies necessary to function in a rapidly changing society.
  5. Relate the influence of education in planning for living a responsible, self-fulfilling life.
  6. Demonstrate an appreciation and a positive attitude toward work.
  7. Indicate active engagement in career and vocational development process.
  8. Enhance career decision-making by involving family members.
