"I'm a Prepper, You're a Prepper,
He's a Prepper, She's a Prepper,
Wouldn't you like to be a Prepper, too!"

This half-day, everyday class is for young learners who need one more year to grow and prepare for kindergarten readiness. Parents make the decision "to prep or not to prep" based upon recommendations of early childhood teachers and their own knowledge of their child's level of development.

What and Why of Kindergarten-Prep

LMCS is committed to providing quality early childhood programs to meet the needs of all the children in the district. For that reason, kindergarten prep is another option that parents can choose for their child.

Kindergarten prep is not a special education program. Just because children are 5 years old doesn't mean all of them are ready for the "academic" program of kindergarten. All children are ready for school at age 5; however, they may not all be ready for the same program at the same time.

There are a few children who need to work on social skills (sitting still, listening and following directions, working and playing with others, being able to be away from home) before they will be able to handle the reading readiness and number skills of kindergarten.

Some reach the end of kindergarten and are not yet ready for first grade. They may be held back or struggle through first grade, only to feel unsuccessful. We would prefer that children feel good about themselves, for this is setting the tone for the rest of their school years.
