The fifth grade students began this project by looking at animal pictures and choosing one to draw. After drawing the outline of an animal on poster board, the students created a maze to fit inside the animal. The animal was then colored with colored pencils and outlined with a black marker.

Drawing these animals allowed the fifth graders to demonstrate techniques associated with drawing, which is a drawing unit outcome for fifth graders. The animals are displayed below.
