The fourth grade students began this project by using watercolor paints to paint a background. Students focused on colors that they would find in a sunrise or sunset. Next, the students drew small trees on the paper and painted them in a medium gray. After that dried, the students drew another set of bigger trees and painted them in a darker gray. Finally, the largest or closest trees were drawn and painted in black. Details were added to the ground. Last, white paint was splattered with a toothbrush over the painting to depict snow.

By completing this assignment, the students were able to create a painting using perspective. They also used knowledge of elements and principles of art, which is an art course outcome. The paintings are shown below.
