The students began this project by tearing the edges of a brown piece of paper. After the tearing was done, the paper was crumpled up. Next, the second graders created a continuous pattern around the perimeter of the paper. The students then traced a leaf and colored it in with oil pastels. Finally, the veins of the leaf were outlined with black marker, and the leaves were framed on black paper. By completing this project, the students were able to create a drawing using a variety of drawing materials. The leaves are pictured below.
