Fifth Grade Band is open to all students interested in starting their future of instrumental music. The current fourth grade students will have an opportunity to try out on a variety of instruments from which they will choose one to continue their education. The students will take lessons during the summer before the start of their fifth grade year. During their fifth grade year, each student will receive a weekly lesson in addition to attending scheduled band rehearsals. Students will demonstrate their abilities to the public at three home concerts throughout the year and also have the opportunity to participate in a Solo/Ensemble contest held during the second semester. The students will develop musical standards and increase their musicianship through the use of quality music chosen to the abilities of the students. The knowledge gained during fifth grade band will help to create better citizenship, more self-confidence, a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, and an increase in academic success.
